Dr. Alison Finger, N.D. ~ Naturopathic Doctor

During my undergraduate studies at University at Buffalo, I studied anthropology, learning about various medical paradigms from around the world.  I was first introduced to holistic forms of healing by participating in the Semester at Sea program where I was given the opportunity to visit 11 different countries abroad.  Through this program, I was able to begin to understand traditional forms of healing.  While visiting Venezuela, I observed natural healers using herbal remedies. While in India, I visited a homeopathic hospital. My experiences in China and Japan allowed me to understand the philosophies of Eastern healers.

This learning experience left me wondering why more people in the United States aren’t taking advantage of these ancient healing practices. Observing the power of natural healing techniques changed my life. After returning home, I quickly changed my focus to pre-medicine to prepare for a new endeavor: naturopathic medical school.

At the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, I found a graduate program that matched my interests and philosophy of healing. Through my years at Naturopathic medical school, I mentored with one of the leading doctors in my field. This training, several continuing education seminars and years of direct experience in the field of integrative medicine have shaped the way I practice today
On a more personal note, after receiving my doctorate degree from NCNM, I moved back to New York State to work with several talented practitioners in an integrative health center. I enjoyed life in Upstate New York meeting new friends and serving more than 1000 patients in my time there. In 2005, I met a man with whom I want to spend my life. Together, our paths have brought us to Bucks County. With our decision to relocate to Pennsylvania, we searched for a community that was active in business and the arts. We wanted a small city with a walking downtown area, where people are friendly and open to my work. After visiting Doylestown, we decided that it would be a great place for us to start our lives together… and we have not been disappointed!

Opening the Doylestown Natural Medicine Center is the most exciting professional experience that I have encountered so far. I am committed to guiding my new patients along the road to health and vitality. I believe Naturopathic Medicine provides the means to help patients with chronic illness and supports those who desire optimal health. I look forward to sharing your health care experience with you!
